Experience Spain on the most intense way
Incense everywhere, melancholic music all around and emotional people everywhere. 24/7. We are talking about Semana Santa. The week before Easter is a big happening in Spain, especially Málaga and Sevilla. And with a big thing we mean: this is something you can’t compare to anything else.
During Semana Santa there are a lot of processions (40 in one week, day and night), so impressive you can’t imagine if you’ve never seen it. The processions are a remembrance of the suffering of Jesus. Especially for the pact who walk the ‘trono’ (the heaviest weights about 4000 kg!) it’s a very emotional happening.
Also quite important to mention: when you’re in Málaga during Semana Santa, you could be very close to an encounter with Antonio Banderas! This Malagueño walks a procession in his native city almost every year!
When we lived in Málaga we experienced this week. Even though the city is totally topsy-turvy and this goes on 24/7, it was very special and unforgettable to see.
Watch the video below to get an idea of what we’re talking about (and to decide if you will book your trip to Málaga or Sevilla during this week or if you prefer to avoid this ;))
