Spanish music festival in Eindhoven
Want to immerse yourself in Spanish music? Visit the Tuna festival in Eindhoven.
Friday 16 until sunday 18 september the city of Eindhoven will be full of traditional Spanish and Latin-American music.
Love and beauty
The idea of ‘tuna’ is formed in Spain of the Middle Ages. To gather enough money to survive , students made songs in which they often sang about love and the local dazzling beauties. Even though the need to make music to gather money disappeared when universities were set up, the ‘tuna’ tradition dragged on.
In Eindhoven 12 tuna groups from signed up, these include groups from Spain, Portugal and Puerto Rico. Friday there will be a parade and a bar tour. Saturday and sunday there will be performances in the old town and at least that important: the Spanish atmosphere in the whole city! The festival is for free.
