Padre, aguas and more Mexican expressions you need to know
When you think you finaly speak some Spanish, but you hear all kinds of weird words in a conversation.
Probably you fell into a conversation with a Mexican who uses a lot of expressions. Slang expressions are often totally inexplicable and therefore not to trace back when you don’t know how to use them. Who would think of ‘father’ as an expression for ‘really cool’? Or that ‘water’ means that you have to be careful?
Make sure you remember the following expressions and you will definitely make a stunning impressions in your next conversation with a Mexican.
- Que pedo: ‘Pedo’ means ‘fart’, but with ‘Que pedo’ you say ‘What’s up?’
- Ir a chupar: ‘Chupar’ means ‘suck’. But no, ‘Ir a chupar’ or ‘going to suck’ doesn’t have anything to do with a sexual act. You say ‘Ir a chupar’ when you go out for drinks, no matter where, with you lady friends.
- Padre: ‘Padre’ means ‘father’. You like something very much? Than you say ‘Que padre!’
- A huevo: A ‘huevo’ is an egg, but you can shout about this food all the time, since ‘A huevo’ means: ‘Fuck yeah’!
- Aguas: Agua = Water, but it also means ‘be careful!’ Logical, right… (not)?
- No mames: ‘Mamar’ literally translated has several meanings, under which ‘drinking from the breast’, ‘to get yourself drunk’ and ‘to give a blow job’. ‘No mames’ is probably one of the most used expressions in Mexico, and it has several meanings: Something surprises you? No mames! You don’t like something? No mames! Someone has to stop whining? No mames!
Nope, we can’t say these expressions are very explicable. But useful they are absolutamente!
