Muhahaha: The funniest mistakes we made in Spanish
Everyone who studies a new language has probably experienced it at some point: with pride and conviction you say something you have just learned, but then someone looks at you very strangely or even starts laughing. Awkward? No way José! Ok, for a moment maybe, but after that you will probably laugh just as loudly and you can make sure that you will never make this mistake again.
To show you that you really are not the only one, we hereby share with you the funniest mistakes we have ever made in Spanish:
- Yo soy un mojito. I’m mojito? Uhm, that had to be ‘Yo quiero un mojito’, and of course this had absolutamente nada to do with the ammount of drinks we already had.
- Caballo, la cuanta por favor. Ok, both a waiter and a horse listen to instructions, but still this was not quite what we meant. Luckily this camarero could laugh about it.
- Tienes bandeja para mi tobillo? Tying a tray around your ankle? Uhm nope, that had to be vendaje.
- Last but definitivamente not least: “Soy muy caliente!” In some cases this might be exactly what you wanted to say, but in this case – in the middle of the day on a terrace – “I’m horny” wasn’t quite what was meant. In any case, we have known since then that “I’m hot” is “Tengo calor”.
Did you also make such hilarious mistakes? Muy bien! Let us know so we can learn from it together (and laugh about it of course ;))!
And if you’re afraid that you’re really going to be at a loss for words, you’ll always be right with these answers!
